Name: Sri Harikrishnan
Age: 31
Occupation: Data Scientist at the German Cancer Research Center
How long have you been doing CrossFit? I started CrossFit in August 2019. I did come here for about three months, then I had a break from CrossFit for almost 6 months. I restarted in June 2020 and have been training on a regular basis since then 4-5 days a week.
Other Hobbies: I like to go for walks, so I walk a lot.
What would you like to tell us about yourself?
I have always been kind of an unhealthy person. I’ve tried to lose weight a lot of times and it was always on my mind. Usually when I had started a program I quit after one month. However, now with CrossFit I’ve found a way to stick with it for a longer period of time.
I really like doing CrossFit here. Mainly because of the people that train with me here. It is such a great community that keeps everyone motivated.
Did you do other sports before CrossFit? If so, which and with what results?
I did go to a regular gym before and did some cardio there. I never used any weights because I did not know what to do. I believed that in order to lose weight you need to do cardio. So I ran for up to two hours. Of course I didn’t get anywhere with that.
How often and how do you train?
When I started I did train two times a week, but after one month I already did train three times a week. Now in the Lockdown I’m training 4-5 times a week.
What have you already achieved?
In the beginning I could hardly do 10 squats without being out of breath. Now I’m able to finish almost all workouts within the time cap. So I have improved a lot since I started here.
Furthermore, from June to November I lost 8 kilos of body fat and have even built some muscles in the process.
What are your goals at CrossFit Rhein-Neckar?
I want to continue my journey losing more body weight. On top of that, I want to increase my strength and stamina. My goal is to do one pull-up one day!
What are the biggest changes in your diet?
I’m Indian and our food is quite heavy on carbs. One of the biggest changes was that from June on I started eating more protein. As I’m vegetarian I don’t eat meat. I also added more veggies to my diet and reduced the amount of carbs I’m eating.
I do eat cheat meals once a week, that keeps me happy and motivated. Overall I was on a slight calorie deficit in order to keep losing weight in a healthy and sustainable way.
What has changed in your everyday life?
Working out has become a part of my everyday life. I like to work out in the morning now which has never been the case in my life. Even if it’s a busy day at work I schedule at least 30 minutes for my training.
In the past I only worked out when I was in the mood. Now I do it no matter what!
What makes CrossFit Rhein-Neckar special for you?
In the first CrossFit workout I felt I could not even finish the warm-up. But the coaches here cheered me up and pushed me to continue. I saw the people around me pushing themselves so I kept going and got better. So the coaches and the community at CrossFit Rhein-Neckar are very supportive in my opinion.
What would you tell people who are thinking about starting CrossFit?
Just try it. When a friend told me about CrossFit I thought that it wasn’t for me. That I wasn’t fit enough. But that stuff doesn’t matter. And if I can do it, anybody can.
It also doesn’t matter what your goal is. Everytime after the training you will be proud of yourself. You will see the progress over time and be happy!
We are happy to help you:
1. book a free and obligation-free consultation (no sweat intro)
2. together we will create a plan for you
3. get fitter and happier
